City of Refuge Child Care Facility

The City of Refuge Child Care Facility is owned and operated by the Assemblies of God in Jamaica. The facility is licenced by the Honourable Minister of Health and Environment on the recommendation of the Child Development Agency which is consistently with the provisions of the Children's Homes Regulations.

The facility caters to over 55 children between the ages of 3 - 16 who have been made wards of the State by an order by the Children's Court.

The programmes at the facility focus primarily on academic training - school on compound and in the community.

The facility is sited on over 20 acres of land and is self sufficient in some agricultural crops and chickens.

Children maintain contact with their relatives and visits, letter writing and telephone calls are encouraged.

The City of Refuge Children's Home receives a subvention from the Child Development Agency for each child placed by the Agency and benefits from donations from individuals and organizations.

The facility aims to prepare each child from for family reintegration and they are exposed to counselling and support to enhance self expression and to maintaining their full potential.

The City of Refuge is monitored regularly by the Child Development Agency.
