New York-based
Jamaican charity, Children of Jamaica Outreach (COJO) Inc, has launched
a special raffle to benefit children in Haiti.
The organisation
has received the support of JetBlue Airways, which is again joining
forces with the charity to respond to the plight of Haiti's children
impacted by the recent disaster.
COJO is a non-profit
organisation in New York, whose mission is to help improve the health,
education and general well-being of underprivileged children.
COJO's special raffle to benefit the children of Haiti was officially
launched on March 9.
The raffle will
culminate during the week of May 17-21 when the winners will be announced
at a special ceremony.
"Any opportunity
to help children in need is a worthwhile investment and we thought
it prudent to reach out to our Caribbean neighbours in this most difficult
period to lend a hand," said Gary Williams, COJO founder and
chairman.
"JetBlue
is delighted that the airline is able to once again join forces with
COJO and to lend assistance to children in Haiti who have been impacted
by the recent disaster. There's no question about the importance of
securing a brighter future for these affected children and we believe
every little action counts," said Icema Gibbs, director of corporate
social responsibility for JetBlue Airways.
