OCHO RIOS
Manager for the Windsor Child Care Facility in St. Ann, Wayne Grant,
has expressed gratitude to Children of Jamaica Outreach (COJO), for
their invaluable contribution and support to the institution.
The facility was
presented with several items, including five computers, an industrial
blender, a refrigerator, a 36 inch volcanic gas stove, a washing
machine and dryer, all courtesy of COJO, a New York-based Jamaican
charity, on Thursday, May 19.
We really
appreciate them, and I know the girls will benefit and the facility
will benefit, and we will definitely use these items to the best and
to the development of the facility, Mr. Grant said.
Founder and Chairman
of COJO, Gary Williams, said that the Windsor was one of three such
facilities the organisation has assisted, through a partnership with
the Child Development Agency (CDA).
The first
presentation was done on Tuesday (May 17) in Portland, at the Muirton
Boys Home, where we donated over $1 million worth of items. On Wednesday,
we went to Windsor Lodge Childrens Home, Manchester, where we
donated items, totalling a cost of over $1 million as well, and today
we are here at the Windsor Girls Home,
Mr. Williams said,
noting that the total cost for the three projects was over $3.5 million.
He thanked the
Sandals Foundation for partnering with COJO on the project for the
Windsor Child Care Facility, and craved their continued support for
future projects.
Director of Programmes
for the Sandals Foundation, Heidi Clarke, said that the Foundation
was pleased to partner with COJO and the CDA on the project.
The CDA
here in Jamaica does a lot of great work, but that can only be expanded
upon when we have people who can invest and give back and help out,
and so I want to say thanks to Gary Williams and his team for giving
back in such a way and for helping out, she said.
The Windsor Child
Care Facility is located two kilometres east of St. Anns Bay,
and is operated by the CDA.
